Ski With Edge Control You Didn't Think a Tech Binding Could Deliver.

The Experience:

On most tech bindings, the boot sole never actually contacts the ski — and that small gap is where downhill performance quietly leaks away. The ATK AL09 Freeride Spacer closes it. By filling the space between the boot sole and the ski, it transfers impact force directly into the ski rather than through the binding pins, eliminating the torsional and vertical "slop" common to lesser tech bindings and delivering edge control closer to an alpine setup than a touring one. Two elastic anti-friction pads preserve proper side release when the spacer is loaded during jumps and compressions, and included washers let you dial in the exact height for your boot sole — so when it's calibrated correctly, your lateral release behaves exactly as it should. For the freeride tourer driving wide skis hard, it's a small part that makes a meaningful difference.

Technical Specifications:

Weight: 29g each

Made For: Free touring

Materials: Delrin 100 BK602

Color: Black

Contains: Pair — 2 spacers (for two bindings) + 2 sets of shims. Also incompatible with Pure 8, Pure 10, ATK Crest 8 and Crest 10, which lack the necessary fittings on the binding plate.

Important Ski Width:

Only mount on skis wider than 95mm at the waist. The base is nearly 95mm wide and will overhang the edge of a narrower ski.

Installation & Warranty:

Install the shims so a very slight gap remains between the spacer and your boot when unweighted — just enough to slide a sheet of paper through. Under load, that gap closes into a solid boot-to-ski connection. Too little gap can make stepping into the heel pins difficult and overstress the spacer. Because performance and durability depend heavily on correct setup, the AL09 is not warrantable — but individual spacers can be replaced at a very reasonable price. To add to already-mounted bindings, remove the binding, install the spacer, and remount with fresh glue using the same screws — no new holes required.
