The Ultra Worldcup Brake is the mandatory choice for competitive skimo racers, ISMF-sanctioned races require a brake, and most independently organized races operating within resort boundaries require either a brake or a leash as a condition of participation. If you're racing, this is the one. If you're not racing but simply want the lightest functional binding available for backcountry objectives, the brakeless version saves you 25g per binding and removes one more piece of hardware from the equation. Either way, what you get is a binding that disappears beneath your foot on the skin track and snaps into action the moment the descent demands it.
